In its columns, Reuters reported that Lamborghini CEO Stephan Winklemann indicated that the Italian manufacturer of sports cars plans to add a template "everyday" of its range. By Stephan the luxury market super sportscar will return the record level seen in 2007 by 2013-2014. If one were to copmpare sports car sales figures, it would be considered that 35,000 odd super sports car have been sold in 2007 where as it was just 26 000 that had been sold in 2010.
There is a growing demand for these cars of the markets in China and Russia. Lamborghini wishes to add to its models to ensure that sales figures higher in the next time. Winklemann said: "we have a third model." It must be a car every day. We want to have a car that can be used on a daily basis. This has fuelled the flames of rumours on the Lamborghini Estoque 2008 making the rounds for some time.
However, Winklemann has not confirmed any particular model which is in the race. It also stated that it would be a period of four years after having locked on a particular model to be ready to really break into new markets. The car could however be developed internally with the help of the VW Group. Winklemann has added, "we will use synergies where possible the Group (Volkswagen)."
Consumers in China and those of other emerging markets such as the Russia, the Brazil and the India have already shown a predilection for four door sports car models. Given market scenario, it appears that it is the Estoque model that stand the best chance to reach production lines.
It was in 2008 that Lamborghini had suffered its sales figures higher units 2 430 but refusing to 1.302 units in 2010. The company now hopes to reach a figure of 1,500 units this year and the new LP Aventador 700 - 4 supercar company launched recently is expected to help them reach their projected figures.
