The German company Audi announced the production of a hybrid of the A6, planned version for 2012.
The new Audi A6 hybrid will be powered by a 4 cylinder 2.0 TFSI turbo charged direct injection, which will be accompanied by a power of 40 kW engine, offering a combined 241 horse power and 354 pounds-feet of torque. These two will be mounted directly behind the other, the 2.0 TFSI and electric motor of the Audi A6 hybrid form a parallel hybrid system. Together, the two units have a 180 kW (245 hp) brief system output and torque of 480 Nm (354.03 lb - ft) system.
According to Audi, sedan accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h (62.14 mph) in 7.3 seconds and has a top speed of 238 km/h (147.89 mph). In the European standard, driving cycle, hybrid Audi A6 consumes less than 6.4 litres per 100 km (36.75 U.S. mpg) - the equivalent CO2 emissions of less than 146 grams per kilometre (g/mile 234.96). 73 Litres (19.28 U.S. gallon) fuel tank ensures a long distance. (These performance and consumption data are provisional.)
This luxury sedan is equipped with automatic stop-start system that will return an average 37 mpg fuel consumption, which can be up to 62 mph for the shorts when the A6 is running on the electric motor.
Of course, the hybrid version must be easily recognize, so it will be distinguished from his brother of gasoline by discrete MSDSS hybrid on the wings, the thresholds and the lid of the bridge.
Even if the new A6 is to appear in U.S. showrooms this summer, no current specifications on introducing the hybrid version to the local auto market were made.
