We already knew that the Concept of M5 of BMW is that with a set of images of the car which had landed in the public domain. BMW have now come out with their official release that provides details on the model of the sport sedan. The concept should be exposed to the Auto Shanghai 2011 event to be held in China later this month.
It is not much variation between the production model and the concept that would be exposed to the event. The production model should be presented at the Frankfurt Motor Show to be held in September of this year.
The new M5 would be equipped with a new V8 twin Turbo. This engine is an upgrade of the 4.4 l twin turbo V8 which develops 555 HP and 680 NM or 501 lb - ft of torque. Actual figures have not yet considered by BMW.
However, BMW revealed that the engine V8 is ongoing development, which could be mounted on the new M5 have a slightly higher power output from the fourth generation of power unit 507 HP V10 of M5. Even with increased power BMW advertising levels there is a lowering of the rate of fuel consumption by 25 percent in earlier versions of the engine.
For the transmission of power M5 has a seven speed m dual clutch system Drivelogic which provides power to the rear set of wheels. The transmission system has been granted specifically to raise the performance characteristics of V8 engines. Auto start and stop functions have also been incorporated in the car.
The M5 gets also new set of suspension components which are inter alia, the wheel suspension systems, axle specific but also powerful and optimized weight of brakes kinematics. The rear bumper is a different design, as is the integrated diffuser which houses the tailpipe double on the side or a barely visible boot lid spoiler.
The concept BMW model published photographs on a blackened Windows giving no idea of what the car holds in its interior other than the characters in typical style of model m such as flying and sport seatson measurement of interior trim and a M-specific dashboard.
