Seoul motor show was witness to the concept of Korean subsidiary, Renault Samsung SM7 model. Renault had published a concept teaser sketch last month. The SM7 is predicted to the Renault Samsung flagship model, and the concept is intended to be the design pro-production study unit.

The production version of the car is supposed to be felt in the streets of the Korea in the South of the second half of the year where it is launched in replacement of the current SM7 its presence. The SM7 is is based on the Nissan J31 platform and therefore the other cars such as the Asian Nissan Teana and the North American Nissan Maxima. However, the J31 platform is clearly past his best days. By contrast, the SM7 in its new version builds on the elongated SM5 platform.

The collaboration of Renault Nissan Alliance was the genesis of the D-segment sedan. The front of the SM7 is dominated by the huge trapezoidal grid. It also has a hood bulge and Teardrop headlamps del. This provides the SM7 concept a modern look and appeal. Two large oval exhausts make up the rear of the vehicle and there is the thin boomerang-shaped taillights, joined by a very long third fire to brake a striking feature that adds to the concept.

There are no photos that illustrate the Interior of the car and there was no information or details of the same that has been published on this aspect. The SM7 competitors would be the size of Hyundai and Kia K7 for the Korean market.

In Europe, the same model of car is called Latitude. The company at the launch of Latitude was impressed that it was not a replacement for the VelSatis. There is a chance that the company may re-badge the SM7 to Europe and label as the VelSatis or Safrane.
